By the end of September, China had 11.43 million EV charging piles, marking a 49.6% increase from the previous year, according to the National Energy Administration.
Of these, 3.33 million were public, and 8.1 million were private. With 28.09 million registered new energy vehicles, this equates to one charging pile per 2.46 vehicles.
In the first nine months of 2024, China added a net 2.84 million charging piles, while total vehicle charging reached 66.67 billion kWh, a 12.4% increase year-on-year. The expanding network now serves more highways, with facilities in counties and towns reaching 417,000 units by September.
